BroadwayBlack.com favorite, Tony Award winner, and living theatre legend, Tonya Pinkins will return to Joe’s Pub in an ongoing concert series. She will be paired with Brad Simmons as they celebrate love and the road to finding it. Look forward to some original medleys and arrangements of classic R&B, pop, rock, and Broadway numbers on Feb 18, 2013 and March 24, 2013 @ 9:30. If this is even a fraction of the greatness that her concert at 54 Below was last year when she did the music of Ethel Waters then you’re in for a good time. Make sure to get your tickets early. And if you’re still questioning who Tonya Pinkins is then you’ve already lost but we’ll tell you anyway. Her resume is long and her accolades are many. We love her for all her work but what stands out for us are her Tony Award winning role as Anita in Jelly’s Last Jam alongside Gregory Hines, the underrated musical Play On!, our absolute FAVORITE musical
after Dreamgirls Caroline, Or Change, and August Wilson’s Radio Golf. Television audiences may know her from the soap opera All My Children. She was also seen on Army Wives which will now feature her Intimate Apparel reading castmate Joshua Henry. We are so proud of the work she has done and even more proud of her forth coming work because we get a chance to be front row center. We better see you there!
