Quick Silver and Classics In Color Theatres Present Proof With Artists of Color

David Auburn’s play, Proof, is getting a colorful update! Quick Silver Theater and Classics in Color: A Theatre Company are co-producing the play that features all actors of color. Both theatres are committed to telling a myriad of stories featuring diverse actors onstage and artists of color behind the scenes.

The play, which won both the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize in 2001, follows the story of young, brilliant, and misunderstood mathematician, Catherine, as she struggles to grieve her late mathematician father. While coming to terms with her grief, Catherine must also try to relate to her estranged sister, Claire, as well as make sense of her budding relationship with one of her late father’s students, Hal. The play takes an interesting look at family dynamics as well as a the gender politics and discrimination that happen within the world of math.

Proof, directed by Johanna Day, stars a talented and star-studded cast: Lolita Foster, who we all recognize as the feisty Officer Eliqua Maxwell from Orange Is The New Black, as Catherine; Broadway star, Count Stovall, as Robert; founder of Classics in Color and up and coming actress, Nafeesa Monroe, as Claire; and Alejandro Rodriguez as Hal. With these highly skilled actors and this amazing play, there is no way that this production can be anything less than a hit! The show will run from September 2, 2015 to September 13th, 2015 at Fourth Street Theatre. For more information regarding Quick Silver Theatre, visit their website. Tickets can be purchased here.
