Queen Latifah Will Celebrate With New York Pops At 32nd Birthday Gala

New York Pops will celebrate their 32nd birthday in style. A grand gala will be held on Monday May 4th with a star studded line up that is sure to be a night to remember. Queen Latifah, known for her musical movie roles ( Chicago, Hairspray) will join the cast of Broadway stars to celebrate and pay tribute to the work of Music Honorees Kathleen Marshall and Rob Marshall and Corporate Honoree Carrie and Ted Pryor, Greenwich Harbor Partners

Along with Latifah and Brian Stokes Mitchell, the gala concert will also feature students from The New York Pops’ Kids On Stage program in their Carnegie Hall debuts performing alongside the orchestra musicians, Children of Ronald McDonald House® New York, and Camp Broadway Kids,

The New York Pops is the largest independent pops orchestra in the United States, and the only professional symphonic orchestra in New York City specializing in popular music. Under the leadership of dynamic Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, The New York Pops continues to re-imagine orchestral pops music. The orchestra performs an annual subscription series and birthday gala at Carnegie Hall. The New York Pops is dedicated to lifelong learning, and collaborates with public schools, community organizations, children’s hospitals and senior centers throughout the five boroughs of New York City. PopsEd allows thousands of New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds to participate in fully customizable music programs that blend traditional education with pure fun.

This year, the performance will highlight the Marshalls’ work on stage and screen. Queen Latifah joins the previously announced Broadway stars Laura Benanti, Alan Cumming, Sutton Foster, Victor Garber, Rob McClure, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Bebe Neuwirth, Kelli O’Hara, Margo Seibert, James Snyder, and Rachel York. All lead under the musical direction of Steven Reineke
