A Must See

Pomme is French for Apple Arrives in NY!

Pomme is French for Apple is a hilarious look at femininity and womanhood from the sketch duo  Liza Paul and Bahia Watson. The show has been gaining momentum since its debut according to the official website

Pomme got off to an auspicious start in Toronto, Canada, with a standing-room only, one-night workshop presentation. In response to popular demand, Paul and Watson followed it up with an independently produced three-night run at an underground indie film house, which they converted into a small theatre. With handmade flyers and word of mouth as their sole publicity, they sold out the entire run before opening night. In 2012, they made their fringe debut at the Toronto Fringe Festival, where they were distinguished with Critics’ Pick, Patrons’ Pick and Best of Fringe Accolades. Things were going well, and they decided to take Pomme on the road.

Since its humble beginnings, the show has taken flight with a successful crowdfunding campaign and securing spots at major festivals. Critics seem to agree that the West Indian-themed comedy is a hit. But the question is, what exactly is Pomme about? Well, Pomme or actually pum…or really pum pum… How about we let the creators tell you themselves just what they mean:

pum (n): west indian for a woman’s private parts. short for pum pum.

Comprised of a series of fast-paced vignettes, Pomme is French for Apple features a dizzying cast of charmingly outlandish characters, in settings as diverse as the Caribbean, downtown Toronto, Southeast London, and the too-tight crotch of the pants. Pomme (sounds like…) is a fresh, funny and irreverent look at womanhood in all its glory: its perils, its pleasures and all kinda madness in between.

We think you get the idea that this show is a sure bet for a rollicking good time on adult subjects that encompass the challenges, triumphs and frustrations of womanhood. The good news is Pomme is coming to New York City! You can check out this funny and insightful show at Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater on Saturday, November 21 and Friday December 18. Both shows begin at 7:30 pm and doors open at 6pm.
