Fantasia has been promoting her new album, Side Effects of You, all around town. So, it was no surprise when she stopped by The Today Show to talk winning American Idol 10 years ago, learning Italian and performing with Andre Bocelli, as well as… Wait for it… Her return to Broadway. The latter actually came as a quick surprise toward the end of the interview. Kathie Lee Gifford asked the former star of the Broadway musical The Color Purple if she was coming back to Broadway and her response, “Yes, I’m coming back. Actually, I’m coming back in October.” and then our eyes bugged out and we cheered.
Even though Fantasia had more call outs of any Broadway performer during her run in The Color Purple, there is no denying that she brings something special to the stage. Now, the only question is what show will she be starring in??? It’s been rumored that last years special event of Cotton Club Parade which starred Amber Riley is heading to Broadway, so that could definietly be an option. We’re excited either way though!
