Remember! Remember! Remember! FAME!!!
That’s right, kids- Fame will live again in a re-imagined television series on the Lifetime network. Based on the 1980 MGM film starring Irene Cara, Fame tells the story of young artists who yearn for success as they start on the road to stardom at the New York High School of Performing Arts. Fame first saw the small screen from 1982-1987 in a series led by Debbie Allen that also featured Gene Anthony Ray, Michael Cerveris, Erica Gimpel, and Janet Jackson.
In the past 35 years, Fame‘s insight into the lives of young performers has been adapted into an Off-Broadway and nationally toured musical, a reality television show, and a film remake in 2009 starring Naturi Naughton and featuring Debbie Allen as Principal Simms. Now that a new television series is in the early development stages, producers hope that original fans will welcome Fame back into their lives and a new generation of audiences will grow to love it!
