Become A Broadway Producer! Standing Room Capital Launches New Broadway Investment Endeavor

Are you a huge Broadway fan? Did you ever dream of becoming a Broadway Producer but don’t have thousands and thousands of dollars to invest? Standing Room Capital, a private online membership platform allowing individuals to invest as little as $2,500 in theatrical productions, has officially launched in partnership with SEC-registered broker-dealer WealthForge. Standing Room is run independently of any producer, allowing the platform to vet and curate investment offerings, which will include both Broadway and touring productions.

Currently, investments through Standing Room are only open to accredited investors, which is defined as individuals who make an annual income of $200,000 or more, $300,000 combined with a spouse, or alternatively have a net worth of over $1 million. “For someone making $200,000 a year, investing $25,000 – the typical minimum for a musical – is far too much to put at stake.” C0-Founder Stephen Santore says. “Letting someone get in on the action for just $2,500 or $5,000 makes a potential loss much easier to bear, while still getting involved in the excitement of launching a musical or play.”

Two of the first offerings on the Standing Room platform will be upcoming shows produced by Joey Parnes Productions, who produced the most recent 2014 Tony Award Winning Best Musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.

How It Works?

Quality Productions

Investors are only presented with opportunities to partner with shows that are in late stages of development, typically those set to debut within the next 6 to 12 months. Standing Room’s goal is to partner with producers with a proven track record of profitable and award-winning shows, and only seek out shows that already have financial commitments.

Real Equity

Investors own a real investment stake in the theatrical production of their choice, exposing them to the potential loss or profit of that show. If a production provides a return on the invested capital, a Standing Room fund may make distributions, according to the offering’s terms.

Red Carpet Access

You don’t just invest, you get to be a part of the VIP Broadway experience. At certain investment levels you will have access to exclusive perks, including: Opening Night tickets and party passes; networking opportunities with actors, producers and directors; access to reduced-price house seats even when a show is sold out; and autographed memorabilia.

To learn more about the process, check out the website that gives a detailed outline on what you should do if you decide to invest. Hopefully as the website grows and gets more interest, more shows will be added in which Broadway lovers can invest. I, for one, would find a way to get $2500 to invest in The Wiz when it comes back to Broadway.
