There is power in numbers, indeed, but all Anthony Wayne and Kendrell Bowman need are each other it seems. Separately these two have made significant marks in their own careers. Wayne made his Broadway debut in 2011 in the revival of Anything Goes and currently is a part of the Tony winning musical cast of Pippin. Bowman is a creative image consultant as well as a stylist to the stars, having styled the likes of Danity Kane standout star, Dawn Richard, and R&B songstress, K. Michelle. However, together these two have embarked on a unique journey and true love seems to be at the helm of it all.

After watching a show called Unsung on TVOne that featured the life of disco soul singer Sylvester, Anthony Wayne developed a concept for a new show in between performing in Broadway shows. An experience that inspires and encourages people to “live their dreams no matter the adversity” was then created. Having established himself in the theatre community, Wayne sought out the help of different broadway producers to help fund the show, with all roads ending in a ‘No”. Kendrell, his best friend and life partner, stepped up to the plate and took the reigns knowing how talented Anthony is and knowing with his entrepreneurial background, he told him “We can do this ourselves!”. And they have!

So, with Anthony as the star and the Director of his vision along with the help of Kendrell, who stepped in to fill the shoes as the Creative Director and Head Costume Designer they set out to make You Make Me Feel Mighty Real: A Sylvester Concert a dazzling reality. Well, they’ve done a little bit more than that and it hasn’t been easy. With Kendrell’s direct business approach and Anthony’s ability to bring balance from such a structural background. Anthony connects the heart and passion of why these business decisions are made. This is a true testament of a Ying and Yang situation that’s effective and WORKS!

Working creatively with your life partner has to have its challenges and these two dynamic individuals aren’t the exception.

“Sometimes we can get into heated discussions about the show. If you were walking by and didn’t know us, you wouldn’t think that we were a couple. A lot of people don’t understand that when we’re in business mode our personal feelings are left at the door. If not, it’s the potential for one to get hurt and we love each other way too much to want to see the other hurt. -Anthony Wayne

It takes the special chemistry that these two have found to balance each other out. They recently celebrated their two year anniversary this month.

“It brings us closer together but it can be a lot with us both having our own careers. Our DVR is 98% full because we don’t have time to watch TV. We wake up and go to sleep [discussing] Sylvester. I think we have more Sylvester merchandise, clothing, props now in the house than in my own closet… no not really!” – Kendrell Bowman

It’s a different kind of show and no one saw it coming but people are sure to be singing and dancing in the aisles.

“One of the great things about it is that there’s an audience that remembers him but there’s also a younger demographic too, that can relate, and they can come together. It doesn’t come from a disco perspective but from a human perspective.” – Anthony Wayne

A sure to sell out hit, You Make Me Feel Mighty Real: A Sylvester Concert is back! After selling out and capturing the hearts of audiences in Washington, DC and NYC, the show returns to NYC!
