Tony and Grammy Award-winning, Billy Porter, released a new live music video recently! The Kinky Boots star and Broadway legend recorded a live version of his original song “Love the Pain away” as a part of Michael Korte’s One Take series. Now known as a Golden Globe nominee for his performance in FX’s ‘Pose,’ Porter wrote the song after the Columbine massacre.

The One Take series captures musical performances in a single take. In this performance, the uplifting number is backed by The Sanctuary Band and vocalists Lencia Kebede, India Carney, and Eric Lyn. This SANGIN’ group of vocalists give a chilling and beautiful performance of the song.

Porter built his career in the theatre and is known for his work in musicals Kinky BootsShuffle Along, and Grease. However, he is no stranger to the music industry. With their signature dance moves and unmistakable harmonies, they rose to the top of the charts creating an amazing 42 Top Ten Hits with 14 reaching number one. The rest is history — how they met, the groundbreaking heights they hit, and how personal and political conflicts threatened to tear the group apart as the United States fell into civil unrest.
